On Monday the 24th we had our MOLE TEST.
This is a very challenging unit for most students and it is a key building block for the rest of the term. On Tuesday the 25th we started Stoichiometry! We did some notes and examples on Mole Ratios and some practice problems. On Wednesday the 26th we continued practicing our Stoich work and students had time to ask any questions or concerns they have about their mole knowledge. Homework is the rest of the Stoich package.

Today was a REVIEW DAY The review and answer key are attached below in the same file. The MOLE TEST is on MONDAY Test Topics are: -molar mass -mole conversions (using your Mole Map!) (includes mass, volume, density, molecules) -percent composition -empirical and molecular formulas email me with any questions or concerns over the weekend!
Apologies as I missed a few daily posts last week.
From Tuesday to Thursday we continued work on our Mole Unit. I did some notes and we mainly spent our time with the large amount of mole practice problems that I gave out. We agreed that there would be about half a class more given on our Tuesday coming back from the long weekend. See me for the notes and mole problems. Today we continued the mole. I clarified Avogadro's # a little bit more and we discussed molar volume being 22.4 L/mole of gas. We worked towards completing the rest of the booklet I gave out last day. I have attached it below.
Today students were able to look over their marked tests from yesterday.
Then we started The Mole! I did some brief notes on the board and gave out a worksheet package that will last us the next week. I will post this on Monday! The goal was to get the first 1.5 pages completed by Monday :) TEST DAY
Nice work you guys. We start the MOLE tomorrow. REVIEW DAY
Test Tomorrow Details in Tuesday's post. 1) Element of the day - Ge 2) We finished the Endo/Exo PowerPoint - you can find it attached below (2 slides are missing from the file posted - the ones describing the thermochemical equation vs H notation. See me if you need this) 3) The rest of the time was used to work on all of the sheets given yesterday. WEDNESDAY will be a REVIEW DAY THURSDAY is your TEST on: -naming -writing and balancing equations -types of reactions -endo and exothermic reactions ALSO these are the acids I expect you to KNOW HCl - hydrochloric acid HBr - hydrobromic acid HI - hydroiodic acid HF - hydrofluoric acid HNO3 - Nitric Acid H2SO4 - Sulphuric Acid
First day back from Spring Break!
1) Element of the day - Mo 2) Quiz (not for marks) to see where you are at with balancing and writing equations, etc 3) Marked the quiz together 4) I handed back some marked work 5) We started a powerpoint on Endo and Exothermic reactions - this will be posted when we finish it tomorrow. 6) I handed out multiple review sheets, as a worksheet on the new endo/exo concepts |
